Versatility

 

Ms. Lanier began her love for music as a preacher's daughter growing up in Jackson, TN. After growing up singing and playing the piano and organ in church, Ms. Lanier knew music was her destiny. After Ms. Lanier's dream of attending the Juilliard School became a reality in Spring of 1997, she had the opportunity to perform on Broadway, performance and concert halls, opera houses and churches across the U.S. and abroad. From Opera, Jazz, Blues, Theater and Soul. Ms. Lanier has a broad range of repertoire which showcases her amazing versatility.

Lanier's Training

Madam Edith Bers

 

During Ms. Lanier's Juilliard training, she had the privilege to study private voice with the phenomenal and incomparable Edith Bers. Ms. Lanier also studied with Ms. Bers as a professional. Ms. Edith Bers' flawless technique of consistent breath control, vocalize styling, and repetitious tonality and musicality training, developed Ms. Lanier into a vocally healthy, consistent, and intellectual singer and entertainer.

Born in Winnetka, IL, Ms. Edith Bers, has appeared in operas, recitals, concerts, and on college concert tours. Gave the U.S. premiere of Schumann's Des Sangers Fluch. Master classes: Symposium on the Care of the Professional Voice at Aspen Music Festival, Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition (Brussels), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and Korean Broadcasting System. Summer programs: Ravinia Festival Steans Institute, Bel Canto Institute (Florence), Aspen Music Festival. Judge: Concert Artists Guild, Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. Auditor for N.Y.S. Council on the Arts. Quoted in Opera News, The Wall Street Journal, Lettre du Musicien.

Faculty: Manhattan School of Music since 1983, N.Y.U. since 2000, Bard College Conservatory Graduate Program in Vocal Arts since 2006.
